Watch a video to hear about Lifespan's Summer Youth Employment Program in recent participants' own words.

Lifespan’s youth employment programs are designed to promote career exploration and youth development. The program offers a nine-week paid summer employment experience at a Lifespan hospital or Lifespan Corporate Services to teens 16 to 19 years old. Eligible youth must reside in selected areas: South Providence, Mount Hope and Newport. (Get more details about who is eligible for the program.)

Teens are placed in a wide variety of departments throughout Lifespan, including:

  • Radiology
  • Physical Therapy
  • Cardiology
  • Nursing
  • Transport
  • Central Processing
  • Human Resources
  • Food and Nutrition
  • Respiratory Care

When they graduate in August, our summer employees take with them a wealth of personal and professional experience. Some youth even gain permanent employment. Lifespan also stays in contact with the teens beyond the summer to continue career counseling.

Lifespan also offers the Seacole Scholars Program for high school students who have their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license. Find out more about the Seacole Scolars Program.
